An Evening of Music for Strings/Concert in Menino Hall Today at 6:30

      Shaw Pong Liu, Tanya Maggi, and David Russell perform tonight in the final concert of the season for the Friends-sponsored series “From Hyde Park to Hyde Park: the Gift of Music.”  Musical numbers range from a serenade by Beethoven to a first performance of a contemporary aria.  The event will take place in air conditioned Menino Hall at 6:30 p.m. this evening.
     Tanya, a violist and active chamber musician, is the director of New England Conservatory’s Community Performance and Partnership Program.    She also founded the Hyde Park Farmers’ Market.  Her husband is cellist David Russell, a faculty member at Wellesley College. There he is the Director of Chamber Music and a cello professor.  Joining them is Shaw Pong Liu, a violinist, who will present her original performance collaboration piece “Hermit Thrush Song” which includes music, the spoken word, and dance.
