Garden Concerts Kick Off – Creek River String Band

On Thursday, July 12, the Creek River String Band will perform in the garden of the Hyde Park Branch Library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.  Creek River is a six-piece acoustic group playing guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, accordion, and bass.  CRSB delivers an energetic and eclectic mix from blues, country, old timey, and folk to Tex-Mex, Celtic, bluegrass, rags, and classical.

“With one eye on the past and one eye looking forward, we weave familiar forms into a fresh new sound that grabs young and old alike,” says Eric Smalley, band leader.  “We play whatever songs make us tap our feet and highlight the individual talents and interests of the band members.”

The 7-concert series will continue each Thursday through August 23.  The concerts are sponsored by the Friends of the Hyde Park Branch Library and supported by a grant from the Blue Hills Bank Charitable Foundation.  Complimentary light refreshments will be available.  In the event of rain or of excessive heat, the concerts will be held in the library in air-conditioned Menino Hall.
