This program is presented by the Friends of the Hyde Park Branch Library in collaboration with Artists-at-Large, Inc.
As part of the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month through Art, ArtsAmica and Artists-at-Large, Inc. announce the extension of the current exhibit Havana in Hyde Park 9 at the branch library through October 31, 2011. Many of the Cuban artists exhibiting their artwork have received recognition and awards in and outside of Cuba, and have pieces in museums and private collections worldwide. All exhibited artwork is available for purchase.

What a perfect evening to spend in the garden at the Hyde Park Branch Library! The JP Jazz Collective, led by Hyde Park’s own Bob McCloskey, will feature blue note jazz from the 60’s and 70’s. The sextet includes 3 horns, a guitar, bass, and drums, with many original arrangements of jazz favorites. Free beverages and snacks will also be available. This is the fourth of eight Thursday night concerts this summer. Join us!
The Concerts in the Garden Series at the Hyde Park Branch Library will get off to a rock and rolling start this Thursday, July 7, at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy the guitar music and vocals of Jeff Todd and Jay Paget.
This is the first in a series of 8 free concerts brought to you by the Friends of the HP Branch. Complimentary drinks and refreshments will be served.
Just in case that possible storm materializes, the concert will take place in the Library in Menino Hall.
At the Back2Basics Bookmark Ball’s Silent Auction, a map collector who appreciates technology will love winning these digital scans of the 1905 Sanborn maps of Hyde Park’s Hyde Park Avenue and Neponset River areas. Sanborn Fire Insurance maps are similar to plot maps and were created to document fire insurance liability in urbanized areas of the United States. The map set comprises eight (8) map sheets on 2 CD-ROM discs and is donated by forensic genealogist Sharon E. Sergeant. This offering is ITEM #11. [Value: $160/Reserve: $25]
