Friends’ 2016 Fall Book & Media Sale

Book Sale!Right on the heels of our Summer Concerts is the Friends of the Hyde Park Branch Library’s annual Fall Book and Media Sale on Friday, September 30 and Saturday,  October 1, 2016, from 10am to 3pm, in the Hyde Park Branch Library’s Menino Hall.

Hyde Park Friends members are invited to attend our evening members-only Preview reception on Thursday, September 28, from 5pm-7:30pm.  Renew your membership or join that evening!

Sale offerings include hardcover and paperback books for adults and children, as well as videos/DVDs, tapes/CDs, and premium books for discriminating book lovers.  Prices range from $.25 to $3.00; premium books are priced as marked OR your best offer!

It’s not too late to donate books to our sale!  Please place books in bags or boxes on the bench near the first floor elevator at the branch library.  For very large book and media donations, kindly let us know at info@friendshplibrary.org to arrange a pick-up.  All proceeds from the book sale will be used by the Friends to support music and other programs at the branch library.  Programs at the library are open to all ages and are free.

Don’t forget to Save the Date!  October 22, 2016, from 7:00pm to 10:00pm, is set for our fundraiser event of the year at the branch library.  Highlighting Hyde Park’s late resident artist, the John J. Enneking Centennial Bookmark Ball is not to be missed!  Framed reproductions of his artwork will be auctioned off that evening, and the ball is a great opportunity to view the recently acquired Isaac Caliga portrait of Enneking.

Friends Mini Book and Holiday Sales 2015

HPF@ATL2015Our thanks go to everyone who stopped by to say hello and who received information about Friends’ activities from David Vieira (left) and John Wentworth at the Friends’ table at the 2015 Anderson Tree Lighting festivities on November 29th.  A big THANK-YOU! also to David and John for steadfastly manning our table between 1:00pm and 5:00pm as the temperature decreased!

Coming up again for the first December 2015 weekend,  the Friends of the Hyde Park Branch Library will have volunteer staff on hand for mini-book and tag sales for your holiday shopping pleasure.

Come on down to our book room outside of Menino Hall on the Ground Floor, where available books include a wide range of fiction and nonfiction, all new acquisitions since our Fall 2015 book sale.  Prices range from $.25 for small paper backs and children’s books to $1.00 for large paperbacks and hardcovers.  An assortment of tagged new/used housewares and holiday items such as greeting cards, crafts, jewelry, and decorations, will also be offered.

Friends Board Meeting – Monday, November 2, 2015

The next open board meeting for the Friends of the Hyde Park Branch Library will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015, 6:30 p.m.-7:45p.m. in Menino Hall at the library.  Friends members and the general public are invited and welcome to attend.

Upcoming Board Meetings occur monthly on the first Monday at the same times.

Kids Books Sale, Aug 14 & 15!

kidsbooksBefore summer is over, be sure to get more reading materials before school starts!  The Friends of the Hyde Park Branch Library will have volunteer staff on hand for 2 mini-book sale days on Friday and Saturday, August 14 and 15, from 9am to 3pm.

Featured books those received from the library of  the Elihu Greenwood School (K2-5) which closed in June. We have more than 40 boxes of books some with multiple copies, teacher’s guides, work books, and educational texts. Also included in this sale are books donated in the last year by patrons of the library.

Come on down to our book room outside of Menino Hall on the Ground Floor, where available books include a wide range for juveniles and teens.  Prices range from $.05 to $.25!

All proceeds from the Friends’ book sales benefit the Hyde Park Branch Library.

Friends Board Meeting – Monday, July 6, 2015

The next open board meeting for the Friends of the Hyde Park Branch Library will be held on Monday, July 6, 6:30 p.m.-7:45p.m. in Menino Hall at the library.  Friends members and the general public are invited and welcome to attend.

Come on down to our book room outside of Menino Hall on the Ground Floor, where available books include a wide range of fiction and nonfiction, all new acquisitions since our annual Fall book sale.  Prices range from $.25 for small paper backs and children’s books to $1.00 for large paperbacks and hardcovers.  Inside Menino Hall an assortment of music CDs, DVDs and classical LPs will also be offered.

     Thursday,  Jun 25:     3-7:30 p.m.
     Friday,      Jun 26:      9a.m.-1 p.m.
     Saturday,  Jun 27:      9a.m.-2p.m.

 

The Friends are also raffling off a Summer Picnic Fun basket at the end of the mini-sale!  Basket is displayed at the branch library.  Tickets are $1.00 and may be ordered at the Friends’ book sale shelves or at the book sale.  Drawing will take place at 2:00pm Saturday June 27th.  Good luck!
