Saturday May 14: Bring your Memories!

MMRSThe Mass. Memories Road Show, is coming to Hyde Park!  Whether you’re a recently arrived resident or have lived in Hyde Park for generations, join us on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 10 am – 3 pm at the Hyde Park Community Center, 1179 River Street, Hyde Park, MA 02136, and become a part of Massachusetts and Hyde Park history!  This event is free and open to the Public.

SELECT and BRING 3 photos of family and friends in the Hyde Park community to contribute to the Mass. Memories Road Show, a state-wide public history digital archive based at the Joseph P. Healey Library, UMass-Boston.  All collected images will become part of the Open Archives at UMass Boston and will be shared online with the world at http://openarchives.umb.edu.

Current and former residents as well as business owners of Hyde Park are welcome to drop-in and participate.  A sampling of photos to bring include those depicting family reunions and special occasions, snapshots and candids, military or public service.  Unframed originals are preferred, and cell phone images are welcome, too!  The photos will be scanned or copied onsite, and the originals immediately returned to their owners.  A video area where individuals may choose to share a 2-3 minute story about their photos will also be available.  Professional archivists will be on hand to advise contributors on how to care for and protect their precious artifacts.

The Hyde Park Mass. Memories Road Show is sponsored by UMass Boston, the Friends of the Hyde Park Library, The Hyde Park Community Center, and Spin350 Creative.  For more information, please contact massmemories@friendshlibrary.org or call 617-968-6577.  Keep up with us on Twitter: #HydeParkMMRS.
